Reading Conservatives are campaigning hard on the following issues in the run up to the May 2026 Local Elections

•    Fighting for better roads and long-overdue repairs, so our streets are safe, reliable, and fit for everyday life.
•    Reviewing the Council’s anti-car policies and restoring free 30-minute parking, supporting local businesses and making daily life more convenient for residents.
•    Standing firm against inappropriate development, ensuring new building is matched by the infrastructure our community needs.
•    Demanding clear, timely communication and greater transparency from the Council, particularly on roadworks, waste collection, and essential services.
•    Taking a zero-tolerance approach to fly-tipping and graffiti, keeping our neighbourhoods clean and safe.
•    Championing accessible, high-quality play areas and open spaces, so everyone - regardless of age or ability - can enjoy them.
•    Supporting a permanent night shelter in Reading, taking practical action to tackle rough sleeping and homelessness
•    Standing up against racism, including Jew hate, defending respect and dignity for all in our community.
